ALP Approach

Many companies have a strategy but struggle to translate that strategy into profitable growth. The Active Learning Program (ALP) provides a comprehensive approach to high growth strategy, taking your company through a customized pathway to develop, execute, and innovate on your strategy, which you implement as you progress through the program. ALP is a YPO only program and only accepts 7 companies at a time. It has rethought the elements of traditional executive education to provide a program that has the objective to help you and your team develop and lead a high growth strategy for your company. Its approach helps you implement a proven, robust framework to build and execute a growth strategy through any market condition.

The YPO Active Learning program has helped dozens of members transform their companies through a comprehensive framework that integrates proven best practices into a coherent approach to strategy. Over the course of six months, you and one or two of your key associates will work with Faculty Director Dr. Rebecca Homkes, Program Co-Champions (both YPO’ers and ALP Alumni), Program Director Axel Bäuerle (an ALP MBA alum), and a team of MBA students, one of whom will be dedicated specifically to you and your company.

Structured Process

Structured process to translate insights into action: In the classroom, you will uncover your company’s most limiting bottlenecks, discuss critical choices, and identify opportunities to stimulate growth. Then you immediately put these into practice within your company with a facilitated session with your dedicated MBA student.

Focus on impact:

You will meet over three sessions in London (Europe program) or Chicago (CIN Mid-Aprogram). Each session is focused on a specific piece of the strategy framework that gets tailored according to in-depth analysis of your company. In between sessions you will immediately put insight into action by hosting a workshop, facilitated by an MBA student, ensuring that key lessons are actionable, and your team is brought on board ready to implement.

End-to-end support provided:

Between sessions, trained MBA students help you implement change and track results. Your MBA is your partner in the entire process, and the program team is dedicated to your success.

How it works

The program has two types of sessions - as well as ongoing support - to maximize impact and ongoing support.

  • ALP Session workshops: Three in-person sessions.

    For YPO CIN US 2004 these are in Chicago 6-7 November 2024 and 9-10 April 2025 and February 2025 in NYC (Before the CIN Roundtable). Each session is preceded by a program dinner the evening before.

    Europe 2024 dates will be announced shortly.

  • Forum approach: The forum-like program numbers, with only seven YPO companies ensures face-face interaction with faculty, “only in YPO” experience and enhances peer learning.

  • Company sessions: Two, in-company workshops (scheduled between the ALP sessions, aligned with your calendar)

  • Ongoing: Ongoing dedicated support from a top MBA student assigned to your company as well as in-between session support from Co-Champions and Dr Homkes

Information + Details

  • YPO companies who want to grow their companies and have the time to dedicate to the approach.

    YPO members must bring two key associates with them to the three program dates in Chicago and host their MBA student at their company two times.

  • Cost for the CIN ALP 2024/5 program will be announced at the 2024 Roundable. Program fees includes program and program meals. Airfare, hotels, and all expenses for your MBA travel to your company are in addition to this fee.

  • We ask each YPO to bring two key associates with them. But, you may bring up to 4 Key Associates; additional fee of 1000 USD per attendee.

  • You should only apply for the program if you can attend all three sessions.

  • The in-company workshops are scheduled according to your and your MBA schedules; you can arrange those for times that work best

  • Yes! Both programs are open to all geographies, but you are reasonable for your MBA travel to your company site (and your own travel to the session locations).
